Clarity Suspended
Clarity Suspended holds perception at the point just before certainty.
This body of screen-printed works on silk, created with natural pigments developed in the Andes, Amazon, and Himalayas explores the interval before coherence forms.
Through layered gradients, organic thresholds, and sharp textural contrasts, the works balance between randomised passages with protected intentional spaces. Some areas draw attention inwards; others extend outward, localising, and dispersing perception across the surface.
Materially and conceptually, the work centres on the moment in which clarity is present but not yet resolved. The interval in which clarity is protected from premature definition.
Through layering, pressure, and repetition, surfaces accumulate time under tension.
They appear calm, measured and deliberate yet remain structurally active – concealing and revealing in calibrated intervals. The works sustain a composed tension, where something is held, not released. A temporal state that sits between opacity and understanding, sensation and articulation, material and perception.
Clarity typically implies arrival or resolution. But suspending it, interrupts that expectation, it doesn’t deny clarity but it delays its conclusion.
It’s a perceptual discipline. Reflecting the implications of the process, patience and presence, the surface becomes a thresholds where perception sits as something that unfolds gradually through sustained attention.
