Printing Table build

2020

personal printing table

I embarked on a personal project to create my own screen printing space, outdoors and in my back garden.

This was a tricky mission as making a printing table can be difficult, specific and its important to consider many aspects when making a print table.

One aspect I wanted to consider was how to make the table fold up so that it can be sorted and opened when to be used. As it is an outdoor table the weather conditions are uncertain so its important for it to be adaptable and to put away.

Specifics

I built the table in the dimensions of 1.7 x 3 Meters

Made from outdoor Timber for the frame work

Plywood for the surface and 2 layers of industrial felt

I used hinges for the plywood surface so that the surface could fold into 4 parts and I also hinged the centre of the table frame and the legs so that all parts could symmetrically fold into one another.

findings

I found this to be a really empowering projects because I built all parts by my own, made all the measurements, cut and drilled all the wood.

It was not only empowering to make but it was empowering to see the potential of what you can make when you have the will for it. It was also a great lesson to learn that nothing can stop you if you want to do something or make something you just have to go for it and try with what you can.

It also allowed me to print freely outside of a studio space, print room and allowed me to print on my own time, outdoors in nature which is the biggest grace of it all.
