Winding Balance is a structure built using a Motor rotating at 1 RPM as an investigation balance and shifting compositions.
This installation piece is a process to understanding how a composition can be dynamic and impermanent.
Changing through, light, shade, shape, evolving forms, layering and movement. Using a particular constitution and experimental method of suspending to work with balance as a means to form new shapes and perspectives. Playing with placing different joints and materials together to create multifaceted compositions and structures.
Working with the element of risk and balance to expand my practice beyond my control.
Bringing a deeper understanding to the natural harmony found through balance. Working with balance as a means to observe how time, space, and perception, shift to reveal a multitude of new perspectives.
Remaining centred is a strong foundation for this exploration. The centre is always rotating and always remains constant, however what moves around it is in constant change and adaptation. Offering viewers many perspectives within the space of 1 minute from a single angle.
To question their perception of reality and the state of permanence. To bring clarity to the concept that when we are balanced, we are centred, symbiotically and consequently in constant adaption and change.
